"HOOD'S SARSAPARILLA" ORIGINAL 1889 CALENDAR TOP
- (c)1888 C.I. Hood & Co. 5.5" x 8". Color litho on die-cut cardboard with original metal hanger hole.
Beautiful portrait image of a young girl wearing a lacy-trimmed bonnet.
Reverse includes 1889 astronomical / seasonal events and Hood's "cure-all" medicine claims (this literature can still give the feeling that a good belt of sarsaparilla is all you needs for what ails you). Hood's popularity might have be attributed to it being nearly 20% alcohol.
Calendar bottom is not included.
Condition is considered GOOD to FAIR with moderate surface/stain/edge wear. Mild surface creasing & edge chipping. Several areas of litho deterioration/tape pulls. Two sets of staple holes at bottom where calendar once hung. Colors are still bright, bold and appealing.
Overall, considering its age, we feel this is still in very displayable condition by most standards (see photos).
