*** Update for June 2020***Now replacing cords for the HTX-212 and HTX-242 as well as the HTX-252. Just purchase this service, ship me your microphone, and I'll take care of the rest! The info below is primarily for the HTX-252 but the service is the same for the HTX-212 (PN: 19-1125) and HTX-242 (PN: 19-1126)
*******************************
Does your old HTX-212/242/252 Microphone cable look like the one pictured above or the few pictured below? If so then this is the place for you! I successfully replaced the cable for my HTX-252 microphone cable and am willing to help others do the same. This listing is for the replacement of the microphone cable that will allow you to get that HTX-252 back on the air!
As you know, when you lose that microphone,
you also lose the capability of programming the radio
. Sure, for the same price you can buy a microphone on Ebay that will transmit on the 252 but you can't program the transceiver with it so what happens when you want to change the programming? Without the Shift Key, you can't even go from Low to High power... It's a real bummer that they designed it that way, but they did.
Here's how this service works.
1. Click Buy It Now above and then pay for the service via PayPal.
2. I'll send you an e-mail with the info where to ship the microphone.
3. You ship me your HTX-212, HTX-242, or HTX-252 microphone and connector if it has become detached.
**Connectors not needed for the HTX-212 or HTX-242 as I replace them anyway.**
(You pay the shipping to me.)
4. I'll replace your microphone cable and test it out on my radio here. (I'll supply the cable.)
5. I'll ship the microphone back to you via USPS with Delivery Confirmation. (I pay the return trip.)
You can see the before and after pics above. You'll love the feel of the new microphone cable. It gives is a more commercial feel than the old flimsy one did.
And now for my disclaimer. Everything above is based on the fact that your microphone is in full working condition other than the microphone cable being dry-rotted. If your microphone is damaged and dry-rotted then you will receive a damaged microphone with a shiny new microphone cable installed in return. If you're unsure then we can work with that as well. I
DO NOT
have spare parts for repairing microphones other than connectors. If you have a microphone that you would like to donate for this purpose then I will gladly give you a break on repairing a working microphone. Just contact me.
Thanks for looking!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Free Shipping only applies to lower 48. If you're anywhere else, contact me and we'll figure it out.
8/23/15 Update:
Here is one I just completed last week for a very satisfied customer. Check out the difference this new cable makes not only in functionality, but looks as well!
I currently have 1 cable in stock and can begin work immediately on one more mic. I'll be ordering a few more soon. Turn around time has been around 6 days with shipping figured in.
I typically get the cord replaced the night I receive the mic and ship it out the next day.
9/1/15 Update:
I currently have 3 6ft cables en route and they should be in hand by 9/4. One is spoken for but that leaves 2 available for repairs. Turn Around time has been about 1 week from the day it ships to me to the day the customer receives it back but that depends on where the weekends fall into play. Here's one I did earlier last week. It didn't look too bad on the outside except for the area near the mic and the area near the connector. This customer wanted the 10' cable installed instead of the 6'. I don't stock 10' cables so if you want one, let me know at the time you purchase the service so I can get one ordered. It shouldn't hold up the turn around time that much.
Here is another one I did where the cable was still in the early stages of dry rot down the cable but when I took the mic apart, this is what I found...
Obviously this can't be good as the wires are normally pushed down and laying against each other when the cover is in place which can easily short something out in the mic possibly damaging it.
So far I've received nothing but good reviews on the mics I have completed for people through here as well as my website so if you need references, let me know!
Update 8/10/2019
-
Since I started offering this service about 4 years ago, I've replaced almost 70 of these microphone cords without any issues. I did have one come back but that turned out to be a cord issue early on.
I'm relisting this service to fulfill a request. I'll leave it up this time and update it as needed.
Here's what others have said about this service so far.
Thanks for looking!
***Note on Handling Times: I set it long because I have to wait to receive your microphone before I can repair and ship it back to you. The sooner I receive your microphone, the sooner you'll receive it back. I'll keep you updated.***
