McIntosh MX-110 MX110 Restoration and Alignment service

This listing covers a complete restoration of your legendary McIntosh MX-110 Tuner/Pre-amplifier. This assumes a basically sound unit that can be repaired. If for some reason your unit is determined not suitable for restoration, you only pay a 90.00 bench fee + return shipping.
The restoration includes:
(1) Check all tubes on an Amplitrex AT-1000 computerized tester. Bad tubes replaced at extra cost.
(1) Completely rebuild the power supply, using our MX-110 capcitor refurbish Kit. This kit consists of both German made and USA made direct fit cans. We replace all three cans and all other electrolytics. No chassis modifications and no ugly capacitors glued or bolted to the chassis. We also replace the Selenium recifiers in the power suppy with 1N4007 1000 PIV, 1A Silicon diodes.  The selenium rectifiers are removed and terminal strip mounted in their place, to which the new diodes are mounted. Everything is neatly wired, as you can see from the pictures.
(2) Replace selected audio capacitors in the high level section, with high grade metalized polypropylene capacitors, rated at 630V. This makes a huge difference in high frequency and mid-band response. Other capacitor options are available at extra cost, such as Auricaps. The phono section can also be done at extra cost.
(3) Check for out of tolerance resistors and replace as required.
(4) Replace bulbs as required (bulbs at extra cost)
(5) Clean switches and tube sockets with Caig De-oxit
(6) Clean balance and volume control with Caig Fader Lube

) Check all Power Supply voltages.
(8) Perform a precision FM and MPX alignment using a Sound technology  1000A Fm MPX Generator.
(9) Perform a complete test suite using Sound Technology equipment (after a 15 minute warm up) including:
Preamp:

Channel Balance
Frequency Response
Maximum output at clipping onset
THD @ 1Khz and 20 Khz at Rated output and at clipping onset.
Hum and Noise below rated output
Tuner:
FM Sensitivity
THD @ 1Khz (Mono and Stereo)
Stereo Seperation at 1Khz
Hum and Noise below rated output
(10) In system listening evaluation
(11) Lightly clean the chassis only at the request of the owner
The price does not include tubes, bulbs, extra repair parts (other than those included in the service) or return shipping or packing if a new box is required.

Remove the knobs on the glass front panel. We will return it to you in your packaging. If your packaging is damaged, or we deem it not fit for shipping, there will be a nominal charge for packing (we use the UPS store for packing), so make sure you packing is rugged.
