    Description

You are viewing a rare vintage hotel key & fob for The Flamingo in Miami Beach, room 4.  According to my research, this hotel first opened on December 31, 1920.  The developer was Carl Fisher and it was his second Miami Beach hotel but the first hotel to be considered grand.  It was located on Biscayne Bay.  The hotel was bright pink and it was known for its glass dome which when lit up could be seen for miles.  This hotel had appearances by Rosie the Elephant, President-elect Warren G. Harding vacationed there and the New York Giants Baseball team also stayed at this hotel.  The hotel was closed and demolished in 1955 to make room for Flamingo South Beach condos.  This old brass key fob measures 2 1/4" long and 1 1/2" wide.  The front pictures a flamingo and a palm tree.  It reads  "Macklin Operated The Flamingo Miami Beach" on the front and "If carried away please drop in any mail box we guarantee postage 4" on the back.  The brass has a dark patina from age, otherwise this piece has regular expected wear from use.  Please feel free to ask any questions.  Thanks for viewing.
