    Vintage Department Of Health Warning Sign City Of Ironwood Michigan on Cardboard
    Original Vintage Never Used Stock from the City of Ironwood, Michigan.
    (NOT A REPRODUCTION)
    These signs warned anyone wishing to enter a residence of the contagious diseases that are in the residence at the time it was posted. It also showed the penalty to anyone who would remove the sign. It would be issued and nailed to the front of a residence by the local Health Officer. This version had a dark black blank line where the Health Department Official would write in the disease that was in the residence.
    This version is different than the similar one I have posted. This one has the partial date / year only showing 19___ and the other one I have listed has it as 194_.
    This  has "By Order Of W. L. Maccani, M. D. Health Officer" shown on bottom right. He served up to around the mid 1930s.
